Hooked on phonics worked for me.

I just finished Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah and girlies, I LOVED IT!! It's the classic chic-flick read. I laughed, I cried, I couldn't put it down...seriously. Such an easy fun read, I highly recommend soaking in the tub with this one...and a glass of vino of course! :)

Here are a few more fabulous fun reads which you all may find hilariously insightful. Further proof that dysfunction makes for great fiction!

We all have plenty to cry about. So grab a tissue, and maybe a xanex. This new collection of short stories, Don't Cry, by Mary Gaitskill examines the human experience and themes of uncertainty, abandonment, loneliness, and grief through tales of ordinary people.

Speaking of ordinary people, who really wants to read about people who have perfect careers, families and relationships? We want the nitty-gritty, the down-right ugly, people we can identify with for goodness sake! This collection of short stories, Everything Ravaged, Everything Burned by Wells Tower's, is far from being pretty. But you can totally relate with the humor and empathy.

Another thing you can probably completely relate to are those random, unprovoked emails or calls from your mother wanting to discuss everything from sex, cooking, daily talk shows, or how bad your hair is looking. *hanging up the phone now* Love Mom by Doree Shafrir and Jessica Grose, is a compilation of these inspiring, hilarious, and downright embarassing moments. Who knew motherhood was so easy?

Howdy Ya'll

Here in the dirty South we have this sport, for lack of better words, called hunting. Where big ole' burly men dressed head-to-toe in the ugliest camouflage you ever did see tromp through the woods with 3 different guns, 10 different knives, and all sorts of manly camping/hunting gear that really has no other purpose than to make them feel manly.

After the long day of sitting, day dreaming of shooting that prize winning trophy when all they really have done is burp, fart, and only seen a couple of squirrels, they head back to the no-women allowed camp house and sit around the no-women allowed camp fire and drink no-women allowed beer and talk about how those no-good-women are. I guess there is just something about male bonding and wiping your butt with a leaf that is exhilarating...I don't get it...never will.

So when those hunting hero's bring home that big ole' trophy, they expect their little Southern Belle to be proud. So proud in fact that the gigantic trophy that now cost you the price of your first home is hanging above your mantle. Tongue, eyes and all....it's there, and it stares at your every move.

Creepy huh?

(Pictures from Flickr)

Thought so.

But have no fear my loves. Now you can have your very own trophy to hang above that mantle too. This modern chic trophy might not have fur and a stuffed head, but these pieces of beautifully papered resin art are one-of-a kind, that's for sure! After you discover this dear little Etsy shop out of San Antonio, TX, you might be proud to show off that trophy at your next Mommy-N-Me play date without scaring the children out of their diapers.

Don't believe me? Take a look for yourself at what they can do.

Even this designer can rock that crazy cool trophy.

Take over the mantle space with your own trophy. The hunter in your life might not be happy, but hey, it's all about compromise right?!?

Get along now little darlin' .... and ya'll come back now ya hear?

(disclaimer: I am a very proud girl from the South and whether I agree or disagree with the sport of hunting isn't any issue. Neither is my opinion of having deer heads hanging in your house, man cave, garage, whatever your fancy. I even admit I may or may not have thrown on some camo and tromped through the woods myself! Everyone has their opinions and I respect that!)

Lack of Sleep...

I can't sleep. It's a sickness. It's absurd. It's making me lose my mind. I don't know what the deal is lately. I mean, surely it's not the fact that I have a million different things going on that have me all balled up in little beads of stress just waiting to push me over that edge, right? Even drowning myself in a bottle of Tylenol PM isn't working. Help me ladies! I'm turning into a sleep deprived, PMS, anxiety driven, stressed out bitch (for lack of better words). Friday can not come soon enough!!
So I've had plenty of sleepless hours to think about blogging or to post some witty amusing post for you to enjoy your morning coffee over. But it's not happenin' girls. I'm not feelin' it. I'm not lovin' it. So hopefully, this lack of sleep hiatus that is aversly affecting my blogging will be over soon!
I did get to meet my bestie at a great wine bar last night!! I haven't seen her in ages (completely my own fault) and I have missed her MUCHO-GUSTO! I'm trying to convince her to start blogging {again} because her life lately is OUT.OF.CONTROL full of happiness, crazy fun and love. I loved hearing all of her life stories and it was like I could literally see the happiness seeping out of her pores. It makes my heart so happy to know that someone I love so dearly is enjoying and loving her life so much. I love you "shaven." (LOL, don't kill me for using that name, your lucky I'm not posting a picture!!!)

I also wanted to share this site, Accessory Bug. It's kind of like an online heaven on earth Sam Moon but only for purses. It's cheap and they have some CUTE bags!! I've never ordered from there, so don't hold me to the quality, but it's worth a browse.

If you are still reading this, Bless Your Heart! I promise to be back in full force soon and maybe I'll have a surprise or two up my sleeve. But, don't hold your breathe! ;)

I'll end this overly boring post with a fortune cookie quote via the dear Ruggy13, because it definitely applies to me lately.

"Real Courage is moving forward when the outcome is uncertain."

I ♥ you all...really, I do!
(and I owe you an apology, the pictures in my last post sucked BIG TIME, so sorry, won't happen again)

Holy Vintage Gorgeousness

I am finally catching up on my Daily Candy emails and my heart is pounding from the over abundance of vintage gorgeousness that I have seen.
I would absolutely love to stuff my junk in these trunks. Steam Line Luggage has absolutely mastered the art of old-school travel pieces with these vintage leather pieces. So many styles and colors to choose from too! And when you aren't traveling, their large trunk would be killer as a coffee table...just saying!

This Gemma Redux jewelry line made of industrial metals and vintage materials is a complete sensory overload. This rocking jewelry is a dream.

Laura Davis Design Lab's vintage dishware and linens is a fine delicacy in itself! Even better she is Plano based. The cute single and multitier cake stands are so impressive and would be such a unique addition to your 5-star fine dining table!

And how funky are these placemats, napkins, and towels made from old bed sheets and linens?!?!

And this chair pillow is a must have for my soon to be new office. *Heart beating faster now*

I've had my vintage Daily Candy fix for the day. I'm inspired, maybe I'll go dig up some rocks, scrap up some metal, and then see how creative I can get with 500 thread count linens.

Wish me luck, I'm feeling funky on this cloudy, dreary morning!!!

Random, Pointless Thoughts

Is it really already Sunday? The weekend has literally flown by and I have nothing to show for all the free time I have so carelessly wasted! No laundry has been done, no cleaning has ensued, only complete and utter laziness spent in front of my computer. I did work for a few hours this morning, does that count for something productive?

So I was thinking that maybe I could talk Mr. Truly into taking me to a movie this afternoon since we didn't go Friday night. However, Mr. Trulys has been obsessed, extremely busy with a new little hobby of his. Can anyone guess what it is from this handy little photo I snapped as I walked out of the room a little frustrated with him yesterday! HA!

Now, this boy LOVES to fish, when he has time. And I try to play along, well I pretended to play along but after a few choice words, near hits of the hook in my head and 45 5 lures lost, I gave up. He was even kind of enough to buy me a fabulous pink fishing pole, but I think he was just trying to get me to shut up because after 2 hours in the sporting goods store looking at fishing gear I may or may not have started to get a little agitated and annoyed causing the annoying bitch in me to come out.

Not a pretty sight.

But anyways, back to fishing, I gave up after a couple of hours on day one. And much to the delight of Mr. Truly might I add. But this was not good enough. Oh no, Mr. Truly went fishing last night and did not come in until 1:45 this morning!!! Seriously, is this obsession with fishing that great? And then, he got up at 6 and went back out!!! I don't get it....but I guess boys will be boys. I'll stick to drinking wine like a fish while he wastes his time getting eaten by mosquitos. (side note, as I'm typing this, I was just informed by a very frustrated man with just a few choice words that are not at all appropriate to type that he only caught 1 fish. I'm secretely laughing hysterically on the inside)

On another obsessive note, I know how much so many of you love cupcakes! Well, check out this adorable picture from this amazing photographer.

**if you are slightly obsessesd with photography as well, check her out. I stalk her blog daily and pray that for a miracle to happen to my photography skills, because honestly, I suck.**

How precious are these onesies?!?!?! Complete eye candy for my brain at the moment and I'm almost tempted to order these delicious goodies and just hope that someone I know is going to have a baby soon so that I can give them this adorable gift!! I found them online here.

I know, I know, this post sucked, but it happens. Hope you all are having a WONDERFUL weekend!!
